This afternoon I was drawing caricatures at at a wedding fair hosted by The North East Wedding Network at The TapYard at Hoults Yard in Byker — and honestly, I had a fantastic time.

Caricature Artist at Tapyard Newcastle - North East Wedding Network, wedding fairs are always a great opportunity to meet couples face-to-face, draw live caricatures and chat with people about their wedding plans. This event had such a warm, relaxed atmosphere from the moment the doors opened, and it was brilliant getting to sketch so many fun couples throughout the afternoon.
It was actually my first time visiting The TapYard properly, although I already have a few weddings booked there as a Newcastle wedding entertainer. Straight away, I could see why it’s becoming such a popular venue.
The Tap Yard has that modern warehouse brewery aesthetic that so many couples are looking for right now. It feels creative, urban and relaxed — the perfect setting for couples who want something stylish without feeling overly formal. While the outdoor space is fairly compact, the venue itself has a brilliant atmosphere and sits in a really vibrant part of Newcastle.
Live Wedding Entertainment and Newcastle Caricatures
The couples attending the fair were exactly the kind of people I love drawing as a Newcastle live event illustrator — fun, sociable and full of personality. Those kinds of weddings are always fantastic for live caricature entertainment because guests are ready to laugh, interact and enjoy the experience.
One of the nicest parts of working as a Newcastle event entertainer is also catching up with other suppliers throughout the day. There’s a really strong community within the North East wedding industry, and events like this are a reminder of how supportive and creative that scene can be.
I was especially impressed with Michaela and the work she’s doing with the North East Wedding Network. Although the network is still relatively new, the events already feel professional, welcoming and packed with quality suppliers. It’s quickly becoming one of the most exciting wedding networks in the region.

Newcastle Wedding Entertainer Booked for Time Bank Brewery
As an added bonus to the day, I also picked up a new booking for Tyne Bank Brewery nearby, which was a lovely surprise.
Days like this are a great reminder of why I love working as a Newcastle caricaturist. Great venues, brilliant couples, fantastic suppliers and lots of laughs along the way.
